VADDS 2016 CONFERENCE

"Improving the Management of the Impaired Driver - a Collaborative Approach"

The VADDS 2016 Conference was held at the Mantra Bell City in Preston on November 29 & 30, 2016.

The two day program offered a variety of presentations including an onsite, interactive walk through of a Booze bus and in-car interlock demonstrations.  Presentations were made by Vic Police on current data and trends, Vic Roads on the current review being undertaken on the development of best practice measures to prevent drink and drug driving recidivism.  The three approved interlock suppliers provided an update on the current status of interlocks and how to collaborate with the interlock suppliers to prepare quality assessment reports.

Our international speaker, Gerald Walters from RIDNZ gave presentations on his journey in impaired driving in New Zealand along with  recent research outcomes on youth impaired driving in New Zealand.  Professor Edward Ogden outlined what is the worlds best practice on how to assess fitness to return to driving after an impaired driving conviction and an international perspective on drink and drug driving.
